Post an idea. Break it into tasks. Track who earns what.
CoLabEx runs freelance projects and classroom bootcamps on the same system — cash, equity, or course credit, split by real, reviewed work, with an ownership ledger that never guesses.
Submit a new idea to the CoLabEx system to get your idea turned into reality!
Post it, and a project manager will help you break it down into real, valued tasks — cash, equity, course credit, or just the PM tooling. No idea is too early.
How it works
A freelance gig or a class project — set what it pays in: cash, equity, course credit, or nothing at all if you just want the PM tooling.
The PM (or a delegated student-PM) writes tasks with a real value each, scoped to a section if the project needs one.
Work gets submitted, reviewed, and approved — only then does it hit the append-only ownership ledger. Nothing is ever guessed or edited after the fact.
Who this is for
One system, five ways to show up on it.
Freelancers
Claim open tasks solo, get reviewed, and build a public rating and portfolio from real, approved work — paid in cash, equity, or a mix, set before you ever claim it.
Freelance teams
A standing group of independent freelancers who take on task work together — everyone stays their own contractor, but the team claims work and builds a shared rating as one.
Companies
A private workspace for a real business — projects stay off the public Task Board by default until someone with authority pushes them public, reviewed the same as any other real-compensation project.
Educators & institutions
Run a class through the exact same system. Instructors (and trusted student-PMs) manage real project work, sectioned by cohort, valued in course credit instead of cash — or build and publish a standalone course in the Education Center.
Students
Work a cohort's real project tasks for course credit in a dedicated Student view — none of it mixed with any Freelancer, Team, or Company work you also do on the same account.

Common questions
See all FAQs →What is CoLabEx?
One system with two tracks. FREELANCE is real paid work — claim a task, get reviewed, get paid in cash, equity, or a mix. EDUCATION is cohort-based classwork — an instructor's students work through real project tasks for course credit. The underlying tables (projects, tasks, submissions, ratings) are the same for both; what differs is mostly vocabulary and who typically plays which role.
How do I get paid for a task?
Claim an open task from the Task Board, submit your work, and once the project's PM or instructor approves it, it's recorded as yours. A task's value is cash, an equity percentage, or course credit, set when the task was created — you can see which before you claim it.
Can a school or bootcamp use CoLabEx?
Yes — institutions register themselves the same way companies do, with a Primary administrator contact whose email needs to end in .edu, reviewed by a CoLabEx admin before it's linkable to a cohort. Once approved, an instructor can run a cohort's real classwork through the same project/task system the freelance track uses.
